Boat transporting containers on a river

Barge and Short Sea Containers

Our waterway and maritime solutions offer very concrete economic and operational benefits such as the transportation of oversized goods, the circumvention of movement restrictions in large cities, and even expedited arrival at port hubs. Our approach offers very competitive rates for goods that are able to cope with longer shipping times or storage time at the port of departure/arrival.

River barges: a secure connection across the world’s oceans

GEODIS charters river barges to enable fast access to port hubs. Your goods can be carried via the Rhine-Main-Danube canal towards the ports of Antwerp or Rotterdam and from Lyon (France) down the Rhône River to reach the port of Marseilles, where they can then be shipped to China.

Short sea container transportation or Roll-On/Roll-Off (Ro-Ro) throughout Europe

We offer scheduled Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) cargo container maritime services between Spain and Italy – with approximately 20 trucks completing the round-trip each week. The most frequently used line runs between Barcelona and Genoa. It is also possible to depart from Valencia and arrive in Rome. We also provide regular containers shipment from the ports of Irun, Bilbao, and Santander to the United Kingdom and Northern Europe.
