GEODIS is awarded contract renewal by Shoes For Crews

As partner of Shoes For Crews (SFC) since 2012, GEODIS has extended its warehouse and logistics cooperation agreement with the shoes provider company until the end of 2019. The Group continues to take care of the entire supply chain process, from the incoming order to the delivery to the end customer.

In November 2012, SFC moved its logistics and warehousing operations from Shannon (Ireland) to GEODIS in Venlo (the Netherlands). The international company wanted to optimize its services to European customers by significantly improving the throughput of its order delivery. In addition, SFC wanted a logistics partner that could support the company in its growth plans.

With this aim, GEODIS has helped SFC to achieve its objectives over the past years. The company grew by 47% in 2015 compared to 2012, orders per week doubled and the stock rose from 150,000 to 250,000 pairs of shoes in Venlo. Additionally, besides pallet deliveries to distributors or warehouses, GEODIS also sends daily orders directly to individuals.

As part of the contract extension, GEODIS invested to improve processes and systems that optimize its offer. The first step was the introduction of a new pick-to-light system, which simultaneously picks multiple orders. At the same time, all transportation contracts are evaluated in order to achieve further optimization.

According to Glyn Billinghurst, Managing Director of SFC: "With GEODIS we have developed a strong partnership. Our new pick-to-light system enables us to achieve great efficiency improvement. The built-in controls also ensure that no picking errors can slip through, which obviously contributes to the optimization of our services. We look forward to the further optimization of our transport network.”

“GEODIS and SFC continuously work together in order to optimize the performance of SFC. We are proud that SFC trusts in us to go on with the success in the years to come,” says Ton van Dreumel, Head of Business Development for Contract Logistics at GEODIS in the Netherlands.
