A new GEODIS distribution hub dedicated to low-carbon deliveries in all districts of Paris

GEODIS will deliver up to 20 tonnes of goods per day in Paris using low-emission vehicles, operating from a logistics hub in the 18th district of Paris.

With a surface area of 7 600 m2, the new center is dedicated entirely to urban delivery and temperature-controlled local storage. The building, which was constructed in 1976, was designed as a multi-storey warehouse on 3 levels, served by a ramp that is accessible to trucks. With an ideal location on the outer ring of Paris, this site will serve all the districts of the city.

The premises have been used as a museum archive, as a home for the Autolib’ car-sharing service, and above all, for ten years, as a recording studio for the radio show Les routiers sont Sympas (“Truckers are Good Guys”), broadcast on the French radio station, RTL, making 13 Boulevard Ney a symbolic location. The radio station had set up a studio on the roof of the warehouse so that the truckers could turn in live with their trucks!

4,000 parcels a day, weighing an average of 11 kg, pass through this new site dedicated to an express service. Deliveries are made the same, or the next day before 1 pm, with a reduced carbon footprint over the last mile. By the end of the first quarter of 2023, electric or biogas-powered vehicles will be used to deliver to all companies, businesses and individuals in Paris.

Marie-Christine Lombard, Chief Executive Officer of GEODIS, said: “Faced with the sharp rise in e-Commerce and the climate emergency, we have chosen to reinvest in the capital, in a building considered to be the largest logistics facility in Paris. This strategic location brings us closer to the end points of delivery and allows us to reaffirm our status as a major player in urban supply.”
