"In a vulnerable world with rapidly changing trade headwinds and customer preferences, pressing climate change, and an evolving geopolitical order, the automotive industry is constantly adjusting to disruption. Until recently, the industry’s focus was on technology that improves visibility. But now with the growing popularity of electric vehicles, there is a need for the development of new logistics solutions (e.g., battery chain) for the eMobility sector."

Frequently asked questions

Automotive logistics involves the managing of transport, unloading, loading, distribution, and storage of auto components, parts, and assembled vehicles through the supply chain. Vehicle logistics also covers the management of data using automotive logistics software.

Automotive supply chain involves all the steps (related to production, transportation, storage, & distribution) from origin to consumption. The upstream supply chain includes activities related to production & delivery of automobile raw materials & components to the production unit. And the downstream supply chain is all about distribution & delivery of the assembled car to the end-customer.

Midstream EV supply chain refers to the process of purifying the raw materials (by refiners and processors) to create minerals that are ready for use in technology. Downstream EV supply chain refers to the process of assembling the batteries (by battery manufacturers) which then are sold to the automakers. GEODIS has innovative logistics solutions to add value at different points in your EV supply chain, including your battery needs.

Ground transport is the most preferrred means of shipping EV batteries. They cannot be sent by air since they are over the established IATA limits.
