Importing into Canada, if you can say "YES" to any of the following statements, your organisation needs to register on the Client CARM Portal:
- My business imports commercial goods once a year or in small value
- My business imports commercial goods through a courier
- My business uses a customs broker or third-party service provider to import our commercial goods.
- My business imports goods that will be sold or used.
- My business imports goods temporarily.
- My business is located outside of Canada, and we import goods for commercial purposes into Canada.
Importers will register their Canadian business number in the CARM Portal*.
- The first person to register the business in CARM is the account owner.
- Importers will assign a Business Account Manager as the person who will have Full Access to the account.
- Additionally, one or more Program Account Managers can be assigned to provide access rights for staff and to assist in the management of the CARM Account.
- Importers will delegate Geodis as their Customs Broker & make visible their account details to ensure Geodis is able to support.
- Management by Geodis will vary based on your business requirements.
Each business number can be managed separately.
Geodis recommends that you obtain a GCKey from CBSA website it the first step for registration.

NEW REQUIREMENT: RPP (release prior to payment)
Mandatory release prior to payment option has to be selected ie: Release prior to payment bond or Cash-bond or pay at border. (There are over 160k importers that will require bonds, we recommend you not wait due to time frames of volumes and aligning to CBSA direction is always a good decision!)
