GEODIS expands TAPA security certification across Germany, the UK and Sweden

GEODIS obtained TAPA certification for five further European sites. These include the contract logistics centers in Cologne, Rodgau, Aurach (Germany), and in Gothenburg (Sweden), as well as the warehouse and distribution center in Manchester (United Kingdom).

GEODIS, a world leader in transport and logistics, obtained the certification for TAPA Facility Security Requirements (FSR) level C for five sites in Europe. This standard certification by the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) regulates physical security in warehouses and logistics centers and ensures high-security freight management throughout the entire global supply chain.

In order to meet this standard, the sites, dedicated to contract logistics and freight forwarding activities, had to pass comprehensive security audits. These included strict protocols for access control on site and within buildings, physical security and the protection of assets through comprehensive CCTV surveillance and alarm systems, as well as requirements for risk assessments and staff training. The FSR certification is awarded following an audit carried out by a TAPA-approved auditor and is valid for three years.

“Over the past few years, GEODIS has continuously invested in its staff, processes and technology. For GEODIS, compliance with international standards is a key way of demonstrating its commitment to protecting stakeholders, managing risk and maintaining operational excellence. These achievements are the result of close collaboration and a strong team spirit between local staff, facility managers and security experts. A further certification to TAPA-FSR-C is also planned in Hungary.” says Maurice Bazil Van As, Regional Security Manager at GEODIS.

In Germany, GEODIS provides contract logistics services to several customers with highly sensitive products in the high-tech and pharmaceutical sectors, which require high security standards. The company has thus achieved half of its regional compliance target.

The inclusion of Manchester – where GEODIS opened a state-of-the-art, temperature-controlled pharmaceutical warehouse in June this year – is of particular significance, as all sites in the UK and Ireland sub-region now comply with TAPA standards.

With the expansion and certification of its Swedish contract logistics center near the Port of Gothenburg, the company is also contributing to greater security throughout the entire supply chain in Scandinavia.
